About the Role
The AGM – Agriculture / Agronomist will lead Pitambari’s agriculture division, overseeing operations from procurement to sales. This includes managing farm productivity, fertilizer sales, and overall business performance. The role requires deep agronomic expertise combined with leadership and business acumen to drive yield growth, team efficiency, and revenue performance.
The incumbent will lead a team of 5 in sales and 7-8 in production, managing over 50-60 acres of farms in the Konkan region (Talawade/Dapoli) and driving fertilizer sales across Maharashtra.
Key Responsibilities
1. Crop & Farm Management
– Develop and implement best-in-class cultivation, irrigation, and harvesting techniques to improve yield and efficiency.
– Oversee 50-60 acres of company farms; monitor soil health, crop quality, and productivity levels.
– Conduct field visits to collect soil, seed, and plant samples; analyze for deficiencies and diseases.
– Research and promote sustainable farming practices tailored to regional conditions.
– Manage procurement and coordination with third-party vendors for seeds, fertilizers, and raw materials.
– Maintain farm records, yield data, and operational reports for management.
2. Sales & Marketing Leadership
– Drive fertilizer and crop protection product sales across Maharashtra.
– Develop and execute sales strategies, manage key accounts, and achieve business targets.
– Lead and mentor a 5-member sales team, ensuring strong market coverage and customer engagement.
– Conduct farmer outreach programs, field demonstrations, and product training sessions.
– Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to guide product positioning.
– Collaborate with production and R&D teams to align sales strategies with product availability.
3. Business & Team Management
– Lead the end-to-end functioning of the agri-division, from production to sales.
– Manage budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics across the vertical.
– Supervise a 12-15 member team (sales + production) to ensure smooth operations and accountability.
– Present performance reports, market updates, and yield improvements to senior leadership.
Who Weβre Looking For
- Qualification: M.Sc. in Agriculture (Mandatory)
- Experience: 15-20 years in agronomy, agri-operations, or fertilizer/crop input sales
- Age: 40-45 years
- Gender: Male
- Language: Fluent in Marathi (mandatory); working knowledge of English & Hindi preferred
- Location: Based in Thane, with regular travel across Konkan and Maharashtra regions
