Role Overview
Bakelite is looking for an Assistant Manager – Accounts who can independently manage financial reporting, compliance, taxation, internal controls and team coordination. This role requires high ownership, discipline and long-term commitment — ideal for someone who wants to grow into a future Finance Manager within a fast-scaling FMCG brand.
The ideal candidate brings strong accounting fundamentals, a structured approach and the right work ethic to build a stable, long-term career with the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements as per accounting standards.
- Prepare MIS reports, variance analyses and summaries for management review.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness and timely reporting.
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
- Oversee AP/AR cycles including invoice validation, payment scheduling and debtor follow-ups.
- Manage vendor/customer reconciliations and ageing reports.
- Highlight risk accounts proactively and ensure timely collections/clearances.
- Month-End & Year-End Closing
- Support month-end close processes including journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.
- Assist with year-end closings, audit schedules, documentation and compliance.
- Ensure strict adherence to reporting timelines.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to internal financial controls, SOPs, and documentation standards.
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
- Coordinate with internal/external auditors whenever required.
Taxation & Regulatory Compliance
- Assist with preparation and filing of GST, TDS and income tax returns.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and compliance frameworks.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reconciliation of tax accounts.
Team Coordination & Collaboration
- Supervise junior accounting staff; ensure smooth workflow and timely task completion.
- Collaborate with sales, supply chain, procurement and operations teams for financial inputs.
- Provide financial support for strategic and operational decision-making.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, GST, TDS, audits and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in Tally/ERP systems and advanced Excel.
- High accuracy, ownership and ethical working style.
- Ability to manage deadlines and operate in a fast-paced environment.
